As early as 2020, the municipality of Herrsching wanted to purchase fitness equipment that would encourage exercise along the promenade.

At that time they fell victim to Corona, now they have been ordered and should be set up this year.

Herrsching

– The idea of offering sports equipment came from Mayor Christian Schiller.

He had already suggested the purchase in 2019.

However, when savings had to be made at the beginning of the pandemic in May 2020, the string concert also lost the 20,000 euros that had been earmarked for it.

A new attempt was made in the recent budget deliberations.

This time with 50,000 euros, because in the meantime the manufacturers had presented themselves in the town hall and Axel Eckel from the technical building authority was able to name specific sums that are necessary for the purchase.

In a non-public meeting, the members of the construction committee were spoiled for choice, and five devices have now been ordered.

The head of the building department, Guido Finster, announced the result to the local councilors in the most recent building committee and said that they had been ordered and were on their way.

"I hope that they will come in the next few weeks," says Eckel in an interview with Starnberger Merkur.

Schiller, who is currently on vacation, picked up the idea while on vacation in Croatia and Italy.

Everywhere on the waterfront promenades, devices invite you to exercise.

At the same time, he noticed that adults often literally participate in gymnastics on the playgrounds on the Herrschinger Promenade.

So that the playgrounds are reserved for children and adults can also pursue their urge to move,

they now get their own devices.

"First of all five," says Eckel. If they are well received, there can be more.

The fitness equipment is set up at the beginning in the area between the club premises of the Rhein-Main-Danube Sailing Club to the playground in the direction of the sports field on the lake.

These are devices that should not only be stable, but also weatherproof.

Starting with a gym-style cross trainer, only tougher for the outdoors, it's a piece of equipment that trains endurance, arms and legs.

There will also be a kind of ergometer on which you can ride a bike while sitting, called "Bike fit".

Preferably with a view of the lake, then you can save yourself the pedal boat.

A device that is also suitable for simple movement sequences, i.e. for all ages.

Two pull-up bars next to each other should save the way to the playground, where there are similar bars.

The "Power Push" in turn enables seated arm wrestling, and last but not least there is a leg trainer along the way called "Leg Wave" which is designed to train the inner leg muscles.

The training equipment is arranged in a similar way to the fitness trails known in Germany.

Signs show users how to use the equipment and what muscle groups are being trained.

"If it works, the path should be further expanded to the sports field," says Eckel.

The athletic path is currently planned to be around 120 meters long.

It remains to be seen how athletic Herrschinger and her guests will be.
