Half an organic duck costs 53 euros in the Ammer chicken and duck roastery at the Oktoberfest.
Munich is amazed at this whopping bill: half an organic duck at the Wiesn cost 53 euros – without side dishes.
The receipt caused an uproar on social media.
Munich – Even before the pandemic, Oktoberfest visitors had to expect high prices in all tents and at all stands.
Yes, the Oktoberfest offer is thin for the small purse.
However, a bill is now circulating on social networks that leaves many Munich residents gaping: half an organic duck at the Wiesn cost 53 euros – without any side dishes!
The bill comes from the Ammer chicken and duck roastery, one of the smaller Oktoberfest tents.
With half an organic duck with sauce, the visitors each ordered a portion of red cabbage and potato dumplings (each 7.20 euros extra).
The total price for the late lunch was 67.40 euros per person (everything about the Wiesn reservations).
According to the menu, you pay 29.80 euros for this in the Hacker Festzelt, 34.50 euros in the Schützenzelt and 39.80 euros in the Käfer Wiesn-Schänke.
The Heimer Enten- und Hühnerbraterei charges 39.10 euros for the dish.
All offers include the side dishes – but according to the menu, no bio.
Many comments: "rip-off event" or "usury"
The expensive pleasure: is the price, which is sometimes more than twice as high, justified?
When asked about the Ammer tent, a spokeswoman referred to the guidelines of the company: "Sustainability, quality, regionality and above all the taste - this applies to the organic duck as well as to all other offers." At this year's Wiesn there is a duck for the first time "From completely animal-friendly production and free-range husbandry," says the spokeswoman.
The responsible waiter also explained this to the guest, who was presented with the said bill on Monday and then asked about the high price.
In the comments below the publication of the photo, there is talk of "rip-off event" or "usury".
"This is luxury," writes one user.
The pricing policy is questionable, it is said elsewhere.
A woman defends the price: "It's realistic.
It's not just the organic duck alone, the wage and energy costs also have to come from somewhere.” Almost ten years ago, she paid 96 euros to the butcher for a fresh organic goose.
Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner: "Organic goods have their price"
Another user speaks of “live and let live”.
One thing is clear: the topic is polarizing.
More than 1,000 comments were already under the publication early Wednesday afternoon, which was shared by almost 8,000 people.
It is also clear, as many of those discussing in the comment column under the invoice photo agree: the Oktoberfest is simply the Oktoberfest – which is associated with higher prices than is the case in normal taverns.
A sausage salad quickly costs 12 to 15 euros, a Kaiserschmarrn 18 euros or a liter of beer up to 13.80 euros.
Anyone who goes should expect it.
