The Iranian Cultural Week, organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Chancellery, opened this evening in Khan Asaad Pasha in Damascus.

The events included holding cultural seminars, talking about Iranian civilization and culture, cinematic shows, concerts, book and plastic art exhibitions, and introducing Iranian cuisine.

In a speech during the opening, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushouh, indicated that the Iranian Cultural Week is a window through which the Syrians look at the various aspects of cultural life in Iran, which have a strong friendship relationship, whose bonds were strengthened during the years of the fierce war that Syria was subjected to and which targeted its civilizational achievements. Stealing her identity, tearing up her societal fabric, and distorting her human thought, values ​​and affiliation.

Dr. Mashouh emphasized that Syria and Iran are the makers of civilization, and both countries are aware of the greatness of the heritage and civilizational achievement of the other country, and that accessing through the gateway to cultural work brings them closer together, highlights our common cultural denominators, and constitutes one of the main pillars to enhance our acquaintance, rapprochement and cooperation, in a way that rises to the level of our two countries' political relations .

For his part, the head of the Iranian-Islamic Culture and Relations Association, Dr. Muhammad Mahdi Imanipour, said: “Syria is considered the cradle of human civilizations in the world, and its capital, Damascus, is one of the most important Arab capitals, and it includes an ancient past, in addition to playing a role in political equations in the region and the world, and that historical commonalities And cultural, as well as the common customs and traditions between the two countries led to the great rapprochement between their peoples.

Dr. Imanipour pointed out that since ancient times, Syria and Iran have helped each other, and years of war against Iran witnessed it, in which Syria stood under the leadership of the immortal leader Hafez al-Assad alongside the Iranian people. Also, during the recent conspiracy launched by the world against Syria, it witnessed a stable position. With the Syrian people and government, considering that the opening of the Iranian cultural week in Syria is a window for the Syrian people to learn about Iranian civilization and culture, and seek commonalities between them, and an important step for deepening relations between the two countries in all cultural fields.

The Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, indicated that the developments that occurred during the last decades highlighted the cultural role in developing international relations and foreign policy between the two countries, considering the culture element as a major determinant of foreign policy, and the language of culture is the diplomatic language that achieves peace, security, tranquility and well-being for peoples.

The Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hamid Reza Asmati stressed the importance of the Iranian Cultural Week in Syria to release constructive energy from cultural memory with the aim of introducing Iran's civilization and culture and what it has done to preserve the cultural manifestations of its people, in addition to creating a common bridge through which it overlooks the cultural landmarks of the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the Iranian cultural week continues until next Monday.
