”, underlined Olivier Véran during a visit to the site of the Souriau company in Chamapagne, near Le Mans (Sarthe).

," he insisted as the presidential majority is divided on which method to take.

President Emmanuel Macron, who preferred the path of amending the Social Security budget which will be examined in the fall, decided to bring together the main leaders of the majority around a dinner, with Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, to arrive at a solution acceptable to all.
The alternative was until then an ad hoc bill, presented at the beginning of 2023, in order to leave room for the consultation demanded in particular by François Bayrou, historic ally of Emmanuel Macron, who opposes any "
forced passage
" .
But a third way has emerged in recent days, that of an amending Social Security finance bill (PLFSS) carrying the reform, which would be tabled in January.
This budgetary route would have the advantage of allowing easier recourse to Article 49.3 of the Constitution, which allows the adoption of a text without a vote except for a motion of censure, than an ad hoc bill.

As soon as it is a necessary but difficult reform and therefore contested by part of the opinion, we always speak of a forced passage.
It's always like that but it's only rhetoric and it's not important
, ”retorted Olivier Véran.

The opponents of the reform, who consider in fact that it is necessary to increase taxes or the debt, are not going to change their minds in a few weeks anyway
", he added.

In the morning, the Minister Delegate for Public Accounts Gabriel Attal had also estimated that the calendar was already "
arbitrated
" for the summer of 2023. For him, a "
vector
" is needed to promote discussion.
He regrets that there are “
in the political parties, also in the trade unions, a certain number of representatives who contest the very principle of working longer
”.
The unions are against an extension of the retirement age.
Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said the executive would make its decision public "
