Clashes broke out in multiple districts on National Day in 2019. When a police officer was dispersing protesters outside Tuen Mun Town Hall that day, he was drenched in corrosive liquid and injured.
Following a police officer who filed a lawsuit against the Commissioner of Police in the District Court a few days ago, another police officer also filed a complaint with the High Court yesterday (27th), claiming that the police had wrongly sentenced him that day, leaving him and his colleagues outnumbered.
The officer suffered chemical burns to his right arm and back after being splashed with corrosive liquid.
He also filed a claim against the police, but the amount of the claim was not specified in the petition.
The plaintiff is Leung Chun-yin (transliteration), and the respondent is the Commissioner of Police represented by the Secretary for Justice.
The complaint alleges that at about 2 pm on October 1, 2019, the plaintiff and other police officers went to the Tuen Mun Town Hall to disperse the illegal assembly outside the Tuen Mun Town Hall and arrest the demonstrators who defiled the national flag at about 2 pm on October 1, 2019.
But because the defendant misjudged the situation, the plaintiff and his colleagues were outnumbered and attacked by the demonstrators.
The plaintiff was splashed with corrosive liquid and suffered chemical burns on his right arm and back.
