Renaissance for the Medici fountain in the Luxembourg Gardens

The monument, dating from the era of Marie de Medici, has been restored. It bears witness to a Florentine heritage.


Located to the northeast of the Luxembourg Gardens, the Medici Fountain is one of the emblems of this large park in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

In the evening, when the large cast iron gates are closed, you can still see the monument from rue Medici until late, thanks to the soft lights that illuminate it.

A meeting place for lovers, a cool spot during the infernal summer experienced by the capital, the fountain is now clearer than ever.

It has just benefited from two years of work, and was inaugurated on September 20 by Gérard Larcher, President of the Senate.

What to indicate, once again, that the Senate intends to occupy the ground of the inheritance, in the hemicycle as much as in its own walls.

Now the green mosses have disappeared from the statues of the two lovers, Acis and Galatea, and from that of the jealous cyclops, Polyphemus.
