The Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance signed a memorandum of understanding for cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum was signed today by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, and the head of the Association of Culture and Islamic Relations in Iran, Dr. Muhammad Mahdi Imanipour, at the Ministry of Culture building in Damascus.
In a press statement after the signing, Minister Mashouh explained that a specific program for the memorandum will be drawn up between the concerned authorities in the two countries to directly start implementation, noting the importance of this signing as it coincides with the opening of the activities of the Iranian Cultural Week in Khan Asaad Pasha in Damascus.
For his part, Dr. Imanipour said: “We are present at the Iranian Cultural Week, which opens today in Syria, and we consider this a good opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries through this memorandum,” stressing that the signing of the memorandum of understanding will be in the interest of the two peoples.
The memorandum of understanding stipulated the exchange of cultural weeks and film festivals by the two sides, the production and distribution of films in both countries, the exchange of musical and theatrical bands, art exhibitions, book and publication exhibitions, and the organization of specialized workshops in theater, plastic art, antiquities and museums.
It also provides for the exchange of professors and experts to qualify cadres in the fields of cinema, music, fine arts and handicrafts, and to support the exchange of information, experiences, books, publications and digital copies of manuscripts, experts and trainees between the Al-Assad National Library and the National Library of Iran.
