The activities of the fourteenth scientific conference of the Damascus Medical Syndicate started today under the title “Scientific Medical Research, Necessity and Prospects,” with the participation of a group of professors and doctors, in the amphitheater of Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus.

The conference includes about 60 lectures on the developments in medical sciences, and its topics focus on the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, pediatrics, thoracic medicine and surgery, digestive diseases, endocrinology and diabetes, neuro-ophthalmic diseases, developments in male infertility, cardiac ischemia, interventional vascular surgery, and cerebrovascular diseases. The head of the Damascus Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Imad Saadeh, drew attention to the importance of the conference as it presents the latest developments in clinical and research medical sciences, pointing out that the Syndicate seeks to present new topics and modern treatments and transfer them to specialist doctors and residents.

In a statement to SANA, the director of the Red Crescent Hospital, Dr. Michael Salloum, explained that the chest diseases focus includes the most important researches related to thoracic surgery and internal thoracic diseases, such as recalcitrant asthma, immunotherapy for asthma, modern treatments with oxygen, chest tumors, and laparoscopic surgery and its role in detecting tumors, stressing the importance of the conference in terms of scientific education. It is noteworthy that the conference will continue until the 30th of this month, accompanied by a specialized medical exhibition for the latest medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries.
