But who is even entitled to a Romanian passport and how do you start the procedure?

Attorney Daniel Hershko with all the explanations.

"27 member states of the European Union, including Romania," Hershko refers to the advantages of the Romanian passport in his opening remarks.

"The meaning is that you can move freely from country to country, you can work in any country that is a member of the Union and there is a visa exemption for many countries. In addition, you can purchase real estate legally and be the owner of land."

On paper, the right to a Romanian passport is for three generations.

That is, even if the grandfather or grandmother was born in Romania, there is a good chance that you are entitled to local citizenship.

You can of course start the procedure independently, but it is recommended to contact a professional who is familiar with the small details and will know how to guide you in the right way.

On this, Attorney Hershko said: "In many cases I am approached by people who tell me that they are entitled because one of the parents was born in Romania, but it is not always enough that the mother or the father was born in Romania;

You need to know exactly where they were born in order to issue a birth certificate.

What's more, there is no such thing as not succeeding - if someone accompanies you and knows the process, in the end there will be a result."

In many cases, those who left Romania and immigrated to Israel changed their names, and sometimes this was not recorded in the Ministry of the Interior, which could make the job more difficult. "Important It is very important to check all the documents at the very beginning, including the names, place of birth, date of birth, etc., so that the procedure for obtaining a passport goes more smoothly," says Attorney Hershko on the subject.

"First of all, you need to know where the person was born, what is his name and what is his date of birth. If he was born in Bucharest, contact the Bucharest Municipality and locate the birth certificate. What's more, it's natural not to have all the documents, it's natural to lose and that's what we're here for - to search Hershko points out.

Certain territories that belonged to Romania in the past are now in the territory of other countries, but citizens born in cities that are not currently in the territory of the country may also receive Romanian citizenship.

Hershko explains: "The real test is whether the person was born in the territory that belonged to Romania, but the main problem is that the birth and marriage certificates need to be located, and this is more complicated in other countries, in whose territory the same cities are today. But for me, there is no such thing as not being successful. If you know the rules The game, in the end there will be a result."
