In an unusual move:
the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Abu Mazen this evening (Thursday) convened the commanders of the Palestinian security mechanisms in his office in Ramallah. Abu Mazen emphasized to them the need to enforce the law and control public order and security in the Palestinian cities.
However, it is not clear if Abu Mazen's directive includes implementation mechanisms and operative measures against the Palestinian terrorists and militants in the Jenin and Nablus areas.
The meeting came in the face of the criticism leveled at the PA by top security officials in Israel that the Palestinian security mechanisms are not doing enough to fight terrorism in the territories of the Palestinian Authority.
According to reports, Israel recently sent a warning to the PA leadership that if it does not act against the terrorist cells in northern Judea and Samaria, Israel will be forced to act on its own.

Also present at the discussion were the heads of districts, the Palestinian Minister of the Interior, Ziad Hab Arih, the head of General Intelligence, Majed Faraj, the senior authority of the Palestinian Authority, Hussein al-Sheikh, and the Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Ashtea.
Last week, serious riots broke out in the city of Nablus after the arrest of a Hamas man who was abusing his wives by members of the PA's thwarted security apparatus.
During the clashes in the city, a 50-year-old Palestinian resident was killed in an exchange of fire between Palestinian policemen and armed men.
It should be noted that there were those on the Palestinian street who recently criticized the Authority for not dealing aggressively with violence and criminality in Palestinian society, and not enforcing public order.
