The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, confirmed that threats of nuclear weapons against Russia began to appear in the statements of some US officials, pointing out that a nuclear war is not victorious and should not be started.
Antonov pointed out in an article for (The National Interest) that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Caribbean crisis, when the Soviet Union and the United States were on the verge of a nuclear conflict.
He said: "This provides us with the possibility to return to the lessons taken by the two great countries from that dramatic period, and I believe that any American would support me in not repeating the dangerous situation that crystallized in the sixties of the last century."
