In Munich there is a lack of bus drivers - and that has consequences.

The transport company reduces the clocks to ten of the 94 lines.

Munich – A lot of frustration with the bus: because there is a lack of staff, the Munich transport company (MVG) is thinning out the timetable.

Ten of the 94 lines in the state capital are affected.

MVG reduces bus cycles in Munich: From Tuesday, October 4th, fewer vehicles on the road

The transport companies in Munich are not alone with the problem.

The Berliner Verkehrsgesellschaft (BVG), for example, had recently reduced the frequency to 30 lines.

A lack of staff is also the reason in the federal capital.

In Munich, in the past few weeks, trips across the entire bus network have been canceled at short notice and unplanned, according to a statement from MVG.

In order to offer passengers a timetable that is as reliable as possible again, the company is now reacting with targeted changes.

The offer will be temporarily reduced to ten lines, where demand allows, from Tuesday, October 4th until Sunday, October 23rd for the time being.

MVG reduces bus cycles in Munich: "We have been experiencing a consistently high level of sickness for weeks"

"For several weeks we have been experiencing a consistently high level of sick leave among bus drivers," says MVG bus boss Veit Bodenschatz.

The lack of skilled workers, which is also clearly noticeable in other sectors, further aggravates the situation.

"All of this has the consequence that, despite our best efforts, we don't have enough bus drivers at the moment."

The X30, which will only drive every ten minutes from Tuesday, and the X35, which will be on the road every 20 minutes, are affected.

Bus 55, which runs every six to seven minutes on weekdays, is also affected.

On line 58/68, Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., there is a 10-minute instead of five-minute interval in the section between the main station and Silberhornstraße.

The 62 bus only runs every ten minutes on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the bus 100 and bus 168 from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on weekends every 20 instead of ten minutes.

MVG reduces bus cycles in Munich: "The aim is to return to the normal timetable as soon as possible"

Bus 145 departs every 20 minutes instead of 10 on Sundays.

This also applies to bus 155, but on Saturdays.

And the 177 bus only runs every 20 minutes instead of 10 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
