Three of the four leaks in the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea are within a few kilometers of each other.
The two exit points in Sweden's exclusive economic zone are only one nautical mile apart, which corresponds to almost 1.8 kilometers, as the Swedish coast guard announced on Thursday.
The smaller of these and one of the two in the Danish zone would be 2.6 nautical miles (about 4.6 kilometers) apart.
Stockholm - The Coast Guard put pictures online showing the turbulent water surface above the leaks on the Swedish side.
According to the information, the larger exit point is above Nord Stream 1, the smaller one at Nord Stream 2. The gas release, which can be seen on the surface, is constant overall, reports the crew on board the coast guard ship "KBV 003 Amfitrite", wrote the authority.
Of the four leaks near the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm, two each are in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark, as the coast guard command center confirmed to the German Press Agency on Thursday morning.
According to the current status, there is one known leak on both Nord Stream 1 lines and two on one of the Nord Stream 2 lines. Line B is still stable, a spokesman for Nord Stream 2 AG told the dpa.
