Berlin is calling for sanctions from the European Union against Iran, where demonstrations sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, arrested by the morality police, are being violently repressed, the head of German diplomacy said on Thursday, September 29.

Within the EU, I am doing everything possible to put in place sanctions against those in Iran who beat women to death and shoot protesters in the name of religion
,” wrote Annalena Baerbock on Twitter.
