Starnberg – The fees for waste disposal, yellow sacks, organic and paper bins remain stable.
At the press conference on Thursday, Christoph Wufka, CEO of the Starnberg Waste Management Association (Awista), leaves open whether this will also be the case in the future.
In addition to the sharp rise in energy costs, it is above all an amendment to the Fuel Emissions Trading Act (BEHG) that could drive up the price.
At its meeting on September 16, the Federal Council decided to include thermal recycling, i.e. waste incineration, in the national emissions trading system.
The background is, among other things, the difficult energy supply situation and the associated rising prices.
In addition, a corresponding law is to be passed at EU level in two years' time.
If the Bundestag agrees to the proposal, residual waste and wood (including wood fuel) will be included in the BEHG from January 1, 2023 - which should cost 35 euros per tonne in the first year of introduction.
"The critics speak of a hidden tax increase," explains Christoph Wufka about the amendment.
Whether that will happen or not, nobody knows at the moment.
The Awista will take this into account, but does not want to increase the fees, according to CEO Wufka.
The municipal company has a healthy balance sheet for 2021 and closes with a balance sheet total of 17.93 million euros, almost 861,000 euros more than in the previous year, Wufka presented the figures together with the head of human resources and corporate communications Sebastian Roth.
The amount of waste generated per district resident totaled 552 kilograms last year.
The residual waste per capita amounted to 113 kilos at the previous year's level, and the district is also well separated, both are satisfied.
The amount of packaging has increased, while the amount of paper, cardboard and cardboard is falling, which also has something to do with the decreasing weight of the cardboard.
"Money is made with paper, metal and now also with waste wood," emphasizes Wufka.
The Awista is satisfied with the separation behavior of the citizens in the district.
"On the whole, we can praise the population in the district," says Wufka.
In order to become less dependent on foreign gas, the Awista board recommends further recycling, organic waste, for example, is fermented and ultimately supplies gas.
Now for the fall, the disposal company is offering the green waste BigBag for garden waste: 39 euros for a volume of one cubic meter, which is picked up by the Awista.
