Donetsk, SANA- Donetsk Mayor Alexei Kolymzin announced that two civilians were injured by a mine explosion

Donetsk-Sana

Donetsk Mayor Alexei Kolymzin announced that two civilians were wounded by the explosion of "petal" anti-personnel mines, which were deployed by Ukrainian forces in Donetsk.

Russia Today website quoted Kolymzin as saying in a statement: "Two petal mine explosions occurred in private houses on Garin Street in the Kirovsk district, injuring a 90-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman."

It is noteworthy that the “petal” mine, which is prohibited in accordance with international treaties, is designed to harm the lower limbs of individuals, especially civilians, where the mine is activated by stepping on it. Identical to the American “Dragon Tooth” mine, these mines are deployed by firing missiles equipped with them by the Ukrainian forces on the target areas.

Ukraine ratified in 2005 the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines, yet it is using these mines extensively in violation of its international obligations.
