The Amperoase remains open except for the sauna - at least until the autumn holidays.

The public utilities are looking for energy-saving options until the next meeting of the supervisory board.

Fürstenfeldbruck – In order to be able to handle the new building despite the explosion in costs, a federal subsidy program is being used.

Construction costs and energy costs are increasing immeasurably.

For this reason, the Supervisory Board discussed the future of the new indoor pool and the operation of the old pool in a non-public session.

"There was the consideration of closing the pool and not making the ice surface," reported Stadtwerke Managing Director Jan Hoppenstedt in the city council.

It's not that far yet.

But the message is clear: energy costs must come down.

temperature and co.

According to Hoppenstedt, energy costs for the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first of 2023 will increase by around 890,000 euros.

Measures have already been taken: the whirlpool and steam bath are closed.

The water temperature was lowered from 27.5 to 26 degrees.

In the training pool it stays at 30.5 degrees.

One degree less brings six percent savings, explained Hoppenstedt.

But less than 26 degrees would not work anymore.

"Otherwise the swimming experience is no longer available." The sauna will remain closed for the time being - for energy reasons, but also because maintenance work is being carried out.

FFB newsletter.)

The operating result of the Amperoase has deteriorated by one million euros, Hoppenstedt reported.

The Corona period has shown that around 50 percent of energy costs can be saved by closing and not heating.

Now it is time to find further savings potential: through closing times and a price adjustment.

He intends to deliver proposals by the next meeting of the Supervisory Board.

It was important to the city councilors that Amperoase and Eisstadion remain open for the time being.

"A closure should be the last step," said Karin Geißler (BBV).

"It will be a difficult decision," said Philipp Heimerl (SPD).

The cost increase

The city council and municipal utilities also want to hold on to the new construction of the Amperoase - despite the now targeted costs of 40 million euros.

On the one hand, the increase is due to the construction cost index.

On the other hand, the enlarged room program costs four million euros and the larger technology block with ammonia system and extra changing room a good five million euros more.

In order to somehow be able to handle the mammoth project, the city is applying to be included in a federal funding program for the renovation of municipal facilities, including in the area of sports.

This supports the reduction of the renovation backlog, especially for swimming pools and sports facilities - with the proviso that it contributes to climate protection.

"With the idea of photovoltaic and solar thermal modules, the project is perfectly suited," said applicant Alexa Zierl (ÖDP).

The funding program

Time is pressing, because the first project outline has to be submitted by Friday.

Should the city clear the first hurdle, plans will be worked out in more detail.

"I believe that we have very good chances," said Mayor Erich Raff. This gives you a realistic chance of implementing the indoor pool as planned.

The city has to contribute its own share of around six million euros.

The funds are taken from the cost center for a possible ice rink (7.9 million euros).

City council unanimously approved the move.

"It's the chance to get into something new," said Christian Götz (BBV).

Raff announced that the project will soon be presented to the clubs.

"We have to convey that we can only do what is feasible," said Andreas Lohde (CSU).

And Hoppenstedt also wants to talk to the district about the subsidy again.

“It is a joint effort that the city, municipal utilities and district office should do together.” You will drive on sight, stretch the plan and then see what kind of bathroom you can afford: “A large, a medium-sized or a small one. "
