Starnberg – Against three votes, the city council decided for the first time since it opened in 2018 on October 24, 2022 to adjust the fees at the seaside resort, which the city administration says is unavoidable due to the sharp rise in energy costs both in the indoor and in the lido: She proposed that the fees for the two bathing areas by 20 percent, the one for the sauna area by 30 percent - here the most recent increase of ten percent was only two years ago.

In view of the total deficit, which is already estimated at 2 million euros per year, the only question that really arises is “how much deficit do we want to make in the future?” said Mayor Patrick Janik.

Ludwig Jägerhuber (CSU) points out that some communities have "already closed their baths completely" because of the exploding energy costs.

Starnberg has at least been able to maintain a "family-friendly price segment" so far, which should be retained now.

Winfried Wobbe (UWG) confirmed that the importance of the seaside resort for the general public is undisputed.

But the usual fee structure is now over, Janik took the basis for any nostalgic urges: "The prices are from the time before the energy crisis!" There is "no way around the fee increases that are now due".

According to a comparative market analysis, these are still within limits and "manageable" and, from the city's point of view, also absorb inflation.

Michael Mignoli (Bürgerliste Starnberg) considered "whether one shouldn't count something against the sauna, for example" - after all, the number of visitors could also decrease there?

The Seebad sauna is currently being checked for its energy-saving potential anyway, according to Janik: "The sauna is still unbeatably cheap," the mayor defended the planned increase in fees.

His deputy Angelika Kammerl (CSU) even predicted: "We will continue to pay more" and thus contradicted council colleague Anke Henniger (FDP), who did not think it was all that easy "tolerable" from the citizen's point of view and was later to vote against the fee adjustment.

Save money with prepaid cards

The decision to adjust fees will result in the following admission prices from October 24th, 2022 - winter season (regular October 1st to April 30th), indoor pool: sports and evening tariff, adults 4 euros, reduced 3 euros;

up to three hours 5 euros (4 euros), families (up to five people, including at least one and a maximum of two adults) 18 euros;

same day ticket 7 euros/5.50 euros/21.50 euros;

“Group” day ticket (ten or more people) per person 5 euros, reduced 3.50 euros.

Summer season (May 1st to September 30th), indoor pool and lido: just like winter season, but instead of a day ticket "season ticket" - adults 120 euros, reduced 85 euros, families from 170 euros (maximum two adults for 100 euros each and each children's ticket for 70 euros each).

Winter season, sauna (including use of the indoor pool): evening rate from 7.30 p.m. 18 euros;

up to four hours 25 euros, day ticket 36 euros.

Summer season (including use of the indoor pool): evening tariff from 7.30 p.m. 6 p.m.;

Day ticket 28.50 euros.

By purchasing so-called "money cards" it is still possible to save up to 20 percent in the indoor and lido area (when buying a 150 euro money card) and in the sauna (500 euro money card).
