Free boat trips for guests on Lake Tegernsee: The offer remains permanent

Guests with the TegernseeCard can sail for free.

It's arguably one of the card's most important accomplishments.

Now the cooperation between TTT and shipping will be extended indefinitely.

– At a ceremony in Tegernsee in August 2016, Markus Söder, then Bavarian Minister of Finance and Homeland, and the former Mayor of Wiesse and spokesman for the TTT shareholders, Peter Höß, signed the contract.

This sealed an agreement that had been fought for at Tegernsee for a long time and against which the Free State had initially blocked itself: Since April 2017, guests with the TegernseeCard have been able to use the Tegernsee boat trips free of charge.

You are entitled to two free journeys per day.

Sign of trust: Agreement is no longer limited

"The offer has absolutely proven itself - it's a very valuable service," says Christian Kausch, head of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), about the free boat trips.

He is pleased that the partnership, which has always been extended for a further two years, will soon be indefinite.

Bavaria's finance and home affairs minister, Albert Füracker, announced that the cooperation agreement between Bavarian lake shipping and TTT would be certified on Tuesday, October 4th, at a press event.

Kausch sees the fact that there will be no further negotiations and a time limit in the future as a sign of mutual trust.

"It worked extremely well."

Free boat trips: more than 80,000 passengers a year take advantage of the offer

The head of tourism emphasizes that the free boat trips for holidaymakers not only increase the attractiveness of the TegernseeCard.

The offer also contributes to relieving the difficult traffic situation on Lake Tegernsee.

Because: Every route that is not covered by car is a gain.

Every year - outside the Corona period - more than 80,000 passengers board with the TegernseeCard.

"The most popular route is between Bad Wiessee and the Tegernseer Bräustüberl," says the managing director.

TegernseeCard services are financed by a contribution

It is important for him to emphasize that the holiday guest does not receive the services of the TegernseeCard for free - as some locals assume - for free.

"This is financed by a contribution from the hosts," the TTT boss clarifies.

The services are included in the room price.

TegernseeCard: Agreement with the BRB is also being extended

In addition to Bayerische Seenschifffahrt GmbH, there are many other service partners whose offers are made available free of charge or at a reduced price as part of the TegernseeCard.

These include, for example, the Wallbergbahn in Rottach-Egern, the Oedberg and Hirschberg lifts, the outdoor pools in the valley, the Wiesseer iodine and sulfur baths or the various museums on Lake Tegernsee.

One is always trying to create new offers, reports Kausch.

"We want to ensure that the card remains of high quality." TTT is currently in the process of extending the agreement with Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) on free train journeys.

“E-car sharing from the E-Werk is also being added,” reports Kausch.

So a lot of mobility, which the TegernseeCard is intended to enable away from private transport.

confirm that the offer of free boat trips with the TegernseeCard has been very well received.

The debiting of the two route trips per day takes place automatically on the ships.

In terms of total passenger numbers, Herbst was also satisfied with the summer season.

The bad weather in September has recently dampened the balance somewhat, "but the months before that, our ships were very busy".
