Kobi Faraj burst into the limelight already at the age of 23 with the successful children's series "The Pajamas".

Since then he has managed to star on quite a few stages, create documentaries, direct, produce, broadcast and more.

On the occasion of the release of the new movie "Karaoke" in which he is acting, the actor, director and creator came to the podcast "What is heard", where he talked with Nir Yahav about the change in his career, the joy of creation and also about his father who passed away three years ago.

"I was a starving actor."

On the movie "Karaoke" in which he stars

: "I wasn't supposed to be there, I got into the movie thanks to the corona virus. I received a call last night from Eitan Fox who told me that an actor had contracted the corona virus, and that there was a young director named Moshe Rosenthal and that the script was cool. He also said that there were scenes with Sasson Gabai and Lior Ashkenazi, and immediately on the spot I said yes. I admit that I was very surprised, I saw the screening at the Jerusalem Festival and it is an impressive work for a director for whom this is his first film. The film is very intelligent."

For working with Sasson Gabai and Lior Ashkenazi

: "There is something about Shashon that does something in my heart. I lost my father three years ago and there is a very great physical resemblance between Sashon and my father and I felt it every moment, some kind of inner pulse. He is one of the most beautiful actors in Israeli cinema - in his emotion and delicacy. He Reminds me again of this great actor from 'The Orchestra's Visit'. And Lior Ashkenazi is a well-oiled, alert and funny machine. If I learned from them? I guess so. I didn't study theater in an orderly way, I only learned from working with people. By the way, we should also mention Rita Shukron, who plays wonderfully."

On the docu-films he made

: "The film about Yossi Banai is very different from the film about Shoshana Demari. Yossi was a dizzying success for film lovers, it was the most watched film at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque after 'Parasites'. It had a cinematic act, which created a great nostalgia. Dealing with These Heroes is not just nostalgia, Yossi is a film about death and longing, it is not funny in any way. It is a deep and serious film with a certain heaviness. I really admired Yossi Banai, maybe I chose to become an actor because of him."

On the film he is working on these days about the actor Yosef Shiloh

: "He evokes a deep sympathy in me. He paid a heavy price because at the end of our memory he is the stereotype and not the person. He was a very brave person, who stood up for it. He courageously said things that are still relevant today."

on the creation

: "I was a pretty hungry actor and I didn't get the ability to win. I was very courted in the world of comedy as an actor. I was in the children's world for a decade or so and I was hungry, I wasn't satisfied with the work. I think Doku broke this limit, I manage to express myself through these heroes and stand up With a lot of passion for action. A feature film? I admit I haven't thought about it yet."

On the reluctance to reality shows: "The corporation saved us. I can't stand this adoration for cooking, it tires me personally. In 'The Next Star' I can still find positive things from time to time, in the opportunities people get. Once this platform was military bands and today They come from there."

On the difficulty of actors of oriental origin in Israel

: "Both in the theater and on the screen, there are no roles for mature oriental women. On television, the examples are minuscule. I have known very smart women, excellent actresses, oriental, whose career ended at the age of 40 because there is simply no suitable place or role. With men, it is different , something was hacked. Amos Tamam, for example, is making an amazing career in the theater. You see an Eastern actor doing Shakespeare."
