President Bashar al-Assad launched today the first phase of operating a photovoltaic power project in Adra Industrial City, during his visit to the project.

The project aims to generate 100 megawatts of electricity through solar panels when completed, and extends over an area of ​​more than 165 hectares.

So far, a production of 10 megawatts has been installed through more than 18 thousand solar panels, and the energy generated from this project has been connected to the network today to cumulatively support electrical production in Syria.

The work on this project was launched as a private investment in cooperation with the public sector after President al-Assad’s visit to the industrial city in Adra in June 2021.

President al-Assad was accompanied on his visit to the project by Prime Minister Engineer Hussein Arnous, the Ministers of Electricity, Economy, Foreign Trade and Industry, the Governor of Damascus Countryside and the Secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party Branch in Damascus Countryside, and a number of officials in charge of the electric power sector in the Ministry of Electricity, and the contributors and experts in the project.
