Temper Your Enthusiasm: Oil Prices Fall in October, But Gasoline Prices Will Not Change | Israel today

2022-09-29T13:06:14.875Z

Following the election period and due to the drop in the price of oil, the automatic mechanism was activated that adjusts the reduction in fuel prices according to the price of oil.

Despite the decrease in the price of oil, the price of fuel will not decrease next month and will remain unchanged.

This is due to the increase in the excise tax by 13 cents per liter, in accordance with the automatic mechanism approved last month.

We will recall that due to the wave of price increases in April, the Minister of Finance approved a half shekel reduction in fuel tax, the amount of the reduction was increased to one shekel in August.

Minister Lieberman intended to extend the tax reduction by three months, but following the election period and due to the drop in the price of oil, an automatic mechanism was approved that updates the amount of the fuel discount according to the price of oil.

That is, if the price of oil falls, the reduction of taxation is reduced and vice versa.

This, out of a desire to stop the discounting of fuel in the future following the drop in the price of oil.

Following this, the Fuel and Gas Administration at the Ministry of Energy announces that at midnight between next Saturday and Sunday, the prices of the regulated fuel products sold to consumers at gas stations will be updated.

The maximum price per liter of unleaded 95 octane gasoline for the consumer at a self-service station (including VAT) shall not exceed NIS 6.37 per liter - unchanged from the previous update.

The supplement for full service will be 21 cents per liter - unchanged from the previous update.
