The European Researchers' Night 2022 is back

Tomorrow, Friday 30 September, the European Night of Researchers, the initiative that promotes the dissemination of scientific culture, returns to Italy. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, 29 SEPT - Tomorrow, Friday 30 September, the European Night of Researchers, the initiative that promotes the dissemination of scientific culture, also returns to Italy.

Open workshops, live experiments, shows, conferences, debates and insights.

During the whole day thousands of scientists, in a fun and stimulating way, will meet the public of all ages, young and old, in the streets, squares, laboratories, universities to reach as many citizens as possible.


    The European Researchers' Night was conceived with the aim of informing and raising awareness on the impacts of science in everyone's daily life and, at the same time, to promote research excellence.


   Lessons, guided tours, ad hoc workshops, games and scientific tests: there will be many initiatives designed for schools.

Female students and students will have special attention also for this edition of the event.


   The intent is to increase the interest of young people in scientific and research careers and in the STEAM disciplines (English acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).


    «Thanks to the European Researchers' Night - explains the Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa - we are all invited to discover the extraordinary work that, every day, these people carry out in the interest of all.


   We should remind ourselves of this more often and we should daily stimulate girls and girls to explore these worlds to find inspiration and guidance for their future.

Being able to meet those who work in the laboratories, those who make calculations, those who carry out experiments, those who do research on our history and society is the most direct and effective way of making a true orientation towards younger people ».


    "This initiative makes clear what we mean when we say that school is community," says the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi.

«Female students and students meet the excellence of Italian research, they have the opportunity to directly observe how the development of the country is being built.


   During the European Night of Researchers and Researchers, knowledge is in circulation, it crosses fences and becomes inspiration and a look at the future for the new generations: orientation is given in the field.

And it is extraordinary that to do so are women and men who with their work build progress paths for everyone and everyone ".


    EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS 'NIGHT Friday's European Researchers' Night will be held in 25 countries across Europe.

The initiative has been promoted by the European Commission since 2005.

It is funded through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and funds from the EuropeanUnion's HORIZON-MSCA-2022-CITIZENS-01 program.


    THE "NIGHT" IN ITALY Eight Italian projects funded by the European Commission.

To propose Research Bodies, Universities, Centers and Scientific Institutes with the support of the Ministry of University and Research.

Italy has a European record: it is the country with the largest number of funded projects.

A great recognition for all the designers of our country which, at the same time, also allows us to offer a great variety and quantity of events, all strictly free and for everyone.


   The Italian projects financed are: BlueNIGHTs (CNR-ISMAR) -Venezia, Bright-Night (University of Florence), LEAF (FrascatiScienza), Sharper (Psiquadro), SOCIETY riPENSAci (CNR), Streets (University of Naples), SuperscienceMe (University dellaCalabria), U * Night - The Researchers' Night (University of Turin).

There are also many associated projects such as ERNApulia (University of Salento), NET (Cnr), and many others.


   The projects, the cities involved and the activities carried out are available on the website: nottedeiricercatori.it RESEARCHERS @ SCHOOL To make the action of the 2022-2023 edition even more widespread, the European Commission has introduced Researchers @ Schools, activities that are developed throughout the period of the school year.

These actions bring the best researchers and the best female researchers into schools, enabling teachers and students to engage with them on important current issues such as climate change, sustainable development, health or nutrition.
