The Russian diplomatic mission in Washington confirmed that Russia is determined to clarify the circumstances of the unprecedented attacks on the Russian gas pipelines "North Stream 1" and "North Stream 2".
The mission said in a statement carried by Tass Agency: “The US Navy was actively engaged a day before the accident occurred in the same area, in addition to flying American drones and helicopters,” recalling statements and promises by US President Joe Biden to “end” the North Stream 2 project.
The mission added: “Reflecting on this incident begs the key question: Who benefits from pipeline disruption?
The answer here is clear,” she said, pointing out that the Americans decided to restrict Russia as their competitor, using methods and sanctions and pushing their allies to use expensive and environmentally harmful energy resources.
The mission stressed the need to conduct a comprehensive and objective study of the circumstances of the unprecedented attacks on Russian gas pipelines, and called for an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council.
Swedish media reported that the Swedish Coast Guard detected a fourth gas leakage point from the "Northern Stream" pipelines extending from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea.
According to the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, Coast Guard spokeswoman Jenny Larson said: Two of the four leaks are in Sweden's exclusive economic zone and the other two are in Denmark's exclusive economic zone.
And the Swedish authorities announced last Monday that the gas leakage accident from the Russian pipelines “North Stream 1 and 2” in the waters of Sweden and Denmark was caused by potentially sabotage explosions.
