Thousands of people have been affected by flooding caused by Cyclone Noru in the southern provinces of Laos.

Local media reported that 28 villages were affected by floods and mudslides in Sekong Province, as well as 73 villages in Champasak Province were affected, and power was cut off in many areas, while many homes and farmlands were inundated with water.

The Disaster Management Committee has ordered rescue teams to use boats and vehicles to assist in relief operations and rescue people stranded by floods, while local authorities are monitoring river levels to take appropriate measures to deal with the situation.
