The Criminal Security Branch in Damascus Suburbs arrested three people dealing in other than the Syrian pound, and sums of money were seized in their possession.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement, which SANA received a copy of today, that in the context of following up the dealers in other than the Syrian pound, and as a result of the monitoring, the Criminal Security Branch in Damascus countryside arrested three people who were dealing in other than the Syrian pound in the Marjah locality in Damascus, and a sum of money was seized in their possession, amounting to two hundred and fifty million. Syrian pounds, twenty-four thousand US dollars, and an unlicensed military pistol were confiscated.
The ministry indicated that by investigating the mobile devices of the arrested, conversations were found proving that they dealt with other than the Syrian pound, and a car that they used to move around during the delivery of the money was seized.
The ministry indicated that the confiscated sums of money were deposited with the Central Bank of Syria, and that investigations are still ongoing to uncover the rest of those involved in the case.
