SWD Temporarily Reveals Two Staff of Po Leung Kuk Infant Section Suspected of Treating Children Inappropriately

The SWD announced last night (28th) that the inspector of its child care center supervision team continued to follow up on the suspected child abuse incident at the Po Leung Kuk Infant Unit the day before yesterday (27th). Suspected inappropriate treatment of a young child.

The incident has been handed over to the police for follow-up investigation.

The SWD said that a suspected child abuse incident was discovered during an inspection at the involved center on the 16th of this month.

After further investigation, it was found that a staff member and six children were involved in the incident. The day before yesterday, they continued to review the CCTV footage of the involved center, during which they found another staff member suspected of treating a child inappropriately.

The inspector immediately requested the operating agency to provide the information of the staff member and the child, and immediately notified the child’s case social worker to follow up on the child’s condition.
