Wiesn control of Munich's taxi drivers: every second one is exposed

Munich customs officials checked more and more taxi drivers at the Theresienwiese at the weekend.

Numerous violations were identified.

Oktoberfest 2022: Extensive taxi driver checks at the festival site

Last weekend, Munich customs officials carried out extensive checks on taxi drivers in the area around the Oktoberfest grounds.

As the main customs office in Munich announced, a total of 140 taxi and rental car drivers were checked.

The passenger transports are elementary for the arrival and departure to and from the Oktoberfest, especially during the Oktoberfest.

Complaints were found about every second driver during the checks.

In most cases, it was a matter of abuse of performance or violations of the minimum wage law, according to the main customs office on Wednesday.

As part of the inspection, the drivers had to answer questions about their employment, among other things.

Nationwide controls: the main customs office continues to check individual cases

The complaints that were made would now have to be evaluated further, as Martin Brandlhuber from the main customs office in Munich explained.

Customs checks in each individual case whether employment relationships have been properly reported and minimum wages have actually been paid.

The control was part of a nationwide focus test in the industry.
