Raising the degree of tourism classification, renewing licenses for tourism offices, and raising the level of work of tourist guides are the main topics of the course organized by the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training of the Ministry of Tourism.

And 60 tourist guides from different governorates participated in the course, which concluded today, where they discussed the mechanism of refining the work of the owners of tourist offices and the role of the tourist guide in developing their work through a number of practical training sessions that lasted three days.

In a statement to SANA, the director of the authority, Eng. Muslim Al-Naem, explained that the ministry is working on a plan to support and develop the tourism sector during the years 2019-2030, as the plan includes investment in the field of education and training to develop and raise the efficiency of human resources, and tourism promotion through the rehabilitation of cadres of tourist guides possessing expertise and culture. High, to introduce the tourist and archaeological sites, and the destruction they suffered due to acts of terrorism.

Al-Naem indicated that the authority is working on preparing the necessary study for the electronic link program between educational institutions and the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training and tourism establishments, considering that this constitutes a qualitative leap in its work.

For his part, the Director of Training and Continuous Rehabilitation in the Commission, Ayham Muhanna, explained that the sessions of the course were supervised by experts from the Ministries of Tourism, Culture, Endowments, Higher Education, Scientific Research and the Interior, in which they provided information about the tourist and archaeological sites in Syria, the Syrian economy and the way the guide deals with tourists to provide the best services. Noting that the participating guides will be evaluated to renew their work licenses.

In turn, Mahmoud Arnaout, head of the guides division of the Federation of Syrian Tourism Chambers, pointed out the importance of the course and the information it provided that enriched the work of the tour guide, in addition to shedding light on the archaeological sites that were damaged by terrorism, the sites that have been restored and the tourist facilities.

The tour guide, Iyad Basirini, considered his participation as an opportunity to obtain what is new in the work of the tourist guide to develop tourism in general, and to exchange experiences among the participants, while Reem Hasoud and Imad Assaf indicated that the course contributes to raising the tourist classification, pointing out that Syria is a tourist attraction and richness area. It is necessary to know the tourist facilities that are still working to promote them, and to introduce them to the tourist delegations.
