The weather, which was not exactly suitable for cycling, accompanied the “Car-Free Children's House Week” which ended recently.
Kottgeisering – Mayor Andreas Folger and the director of the children's home, Andrea Steinbeck, had asked the parents not to use the car for the daily journey to the children's home in Amperstrolche, but rather to use their bicycles or their own feet.
"By participating in this European initiative, we want to make a small contribution to raising awareness of climate-friendly mobility among children, parents and employees," said the mayor.
The trigger for the campaign was an event organized by the city of Bruck on the subject of mobility.
The children's home is now using the European Mobility Week to draw attention to this topic and look for climate-friendly solutions.

Thanks to the central location of the former school building, the issue of parents' taxis is not acute, at least in the old town.
On the other hand, the Kreuzackersiedlung and the residential area are a bit further away - so the temptation to use the car is greater.
Nevertheless, many children came to the children's home either in a bike trailer, in a seat on their parents' bike, on their own bike, scooter, skateboard, stroller or on foot.
"The campaign was a success in any case, because the educators took up the topic with the children," reports Folger.
Andrea Steinbeck adds: "In the morning group, we discussed with the children why cycling is better than driving a car." Some collages, which the educators added with terms, were created in this way and exhibited in the main entrance.
"The mobility week was a good thing that we will definitely repeat," concludes the director of the children's home.
