Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) has asked the federal government to make an exception to the debt brake so that the states can put together aid packages in the energy crisis.
“It happened relatively quickly with Corona, the federal and state governments acted together and also made additional money available together.
Now there is a hesitation that is slowly driving me a bit crazy," Woidke said on Thursday on Radio One from Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB).
Berlin/Potsdam - The money is necessary for private households and companies.
"If that money isn't provided, then I'm really worried about what's going on here in this country and what's going to happen."
However, the SPD politician was confident that the federal government would approach the state leaders during the consultations with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) next Tuesday (October 4).
"I also think there will be movement," said Woidke.
The countries are demanding an energy price cap for electricity, gas and heat in order to limit the explosion in costs for private households and companies.
Funding is at issue.
Within the traffic light government in the federal government, a possible suspension of the debt brake is controversial.
The FDP with Finance Minister Christian Lindner has so far been strictly against it.
