Twelve people were killed today as a result of a terrorist attack launched by Al-Shabab, linked to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, in Gedo region, southern Somalia.
Reuters quoted local media as saying that Al-Shabaab militants attacked a crew of workers who were digging a well in the town of Gareli in the drought-stricken Gedo region, killing 12 people.
The Horn of Africa is suffering the worst drought in 40 years, prompting the United Nations to warn of a looming famine.
Al-Shabaab, which is linked to Al-Qaeda, has claimed numerous terrorist operations over the past years, which have claimed hundreds of lives.
