This Friday, September 30, Vladimir Putin formalized with great fanfare the annexation of four Ukrainian regions – Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporijjia and Kherson – to Russia.
Volodymyr Zelensky's response was not long in coming: an hour after the signing of the decrees, the Ukrainian president organized his own ceremony, putting his stamp on an application for accelerated NATO membership.
The opportunity for him to ensure that his country would "not negotiate with Russia as long as Putin" is the president.
