Ex-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva maintains a 14-point lead over his rival, outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro, which keeps the former's hopes of winning the first round of elections scheduled for next Sunday, according to polls of intentions to vote in the presidential elections in Brazil.

According to the results of the poll conducted by the Institute "Data Fulha" and reported by Agence France-Presse: Lula da Silva received 48 percent of voting intentions, compared to 47 percent a week ago, while voting intentions for Bolsonaro also rose by one point to 34 percent.

The two main candidates consolidated their lead over candidate Ciro Gomez, who fell from 7 to 6 percent of voting intentions, while voting intentions for candidate Simon Tabet remained at 5 percent.

And Lula da Silva, who ruled Brazil between 2003 and 2010, can win in the first round, if he gets more than fifty percent of the votes, and the institute expected him to win 54 percent of the votes in the event that the election is postponed to a second round of voting.

Another poll published by the IPIC Institute last Monday showed Lula da Silva with 52 percent of voting intentions, compared to 34 percent for Bolsonaro.
