Today, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, discussed with the Secretary-General of the National Museum in the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Jamal bin Hassan Al-Moussawi, the points related to the loaning of Syrian artifacts that were damaged during the war for restoration and display in the Sultanate of Oman.
The two sides also reviewed, during a meeting held today at the Ministry of Culture building in Damascus, the possibility of renewing the loan of Ibn Majid's manuscript, while the Omani side expressed its desire to cooperate and continue to provide assistance for the restoration of art pieces and other antiquities and the establishment of joint exhibitions between the two brotherly countries.
The Omani delegation currently visiting Syria also carried about 25 Syrian antiquities that were restored in Oman and will be handed over to the Ministry of Culture.
Today's meeting, which was attended by the head of the Postal and Documents Department Khaled Al-Mayahi and the engineer Heba Qadri from the cultural heritage organization ICCROM Oman, comes with the aim of following up on what was reached through the cooperation agreement between the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums and the National Museum in Oman, and to determine the details of the implementation of the agreed projects for the protection of cultural property.
