Starnberg - Want to know more about Empress Sisi and King Ludwig II?

This is possible in a variety of ways at Lake Starnberg.

Interesting guided tours will be offered again on October 3rd and 15th.

During a hike followed by a stop, you can enjoy both the landscape and the culinary delights.

Violets were Sisi's favorite flowers, she loved the color and even had violet wallpaper installed in the palace in Vienna.

The violet ice cream made especially for her, more commonly known as “frozen” at the time, is one of her favorite dishes.

Supposedly, one of her many diets consisted of eating two oranges and a scoop of violet ice cream a day.

An excellent address for good ice cream is the Starnberger Eiswerkstatt directly on the church square, which is also one of the licensees of the StarnbergAmmersee regional brand and is in close contact with gwt Starnberg anyway.

Violet ice cream is served in traditional Viennese coffee houses

Project manager Isabell Bauch has now brought Jan Thunig on board, who has had Sisi's favorites on offer since the summer.

"The taste is really exceptional," explains Isabell Bauch.

“Maybe not everyone likes it, but it is definitely something very special.

Our tip: the ball looks fantastic in a glass of Prosecco.” Since it is more of a sorbet, the specialty is not only vegan, but with around 80 calories it is not too rich.

Incidentally, violet ice cream is still served today in traditional coffee houses in Vienna, such as at the Hofzuckerbäckerei Demel.

In Andechs there is a Sisi breakfast

There is another Sisi specialty in Bernried: on the initiative of gwt Starnberg, Clement Chococult developed a violet chocolate.

It may have a few more calories than ice cream, but it tastes really good.

No wonder, when it comes to chocolate and pralines, Franz Clement really is a master of his trade.

He is also a licensee of the regional brand, a good example of how the brand family is growing, more and more companies and operations are being networked and regional cooperation is developing.

Also included: Hemberger's breakfast café in Erling has been offering a Sisi breakfast with fresh fruit salad since last year and, due to popular demand, has included it on the menu.

Guided tours on October 3rd and 15th

A brisk walk helps against too many calories.

Two more gwt tours are now taking place in autumn: a half-day hike in the footsteps of the empress with a stop for coffee and cake at the Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth, complete with pages in the historical guest book, on the public holiday, October 3rd.

In addition, on October 15, a guided tour to Ludwig II with shipping.

You can register for the two tours in the three gwt tourist information offices in Starnberg, Herrsching or Dießen.

A flyer is also available there, alternatively available as a pdf under "Order brochure" at www.starnbergammersee.de.

Cooperation with regional producers

Along with King Ludwig II, she is the most prominent resident of the region: Empress Elisabeth.

As Princess Sisi, she spent the summers of her youth at Lake Starnberg.

A separate gwt project has been making the life of the future empress better known since last year and not only offers guided tours in Feldafing and Possenhofen, but also cooperates with regional producers and service providers.
