The Holzkirchen market is planning to build a photovoltaic system on the Batusa gymnasium.

The project is part of a new package of measures to save energy.

Holzkirchen

– Saving energy has not just been an issue since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Holzkirchen market has also dedicated itself to the topic.

As Thomas Mann (Building Management) and Martin Eichner (Building Authority Technology) now explained to the main committee, there are a number of measures to be taken in the near future that are intended to save energy.

Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) gave the motto: "Every kilowatt hour that we don't use is a good one".

Mann named the photovoltaic system (PV) on the Batusa gymnasium as one of the most urgent measures.

The project was already a topic in the municipal council in July, when it became clear that many councilors were in favor of using the entire roof.

Legal concerns have since been resolved, Mann assured: A PV system does not stand in the way of funding for the combined heat and power plant of the swimming pool.

One will now check the profitability and the ideal size in order to then obtain offers, said Schmid.

As a further measure, Mann named the purchase of software to monitor energy consumption in municipal buildings.

Like the PV system on the Batusa Hall, this project results from the partial energy use plan that the municipality drew up two years ago.

We've come a long way here, Mann said.

However, because funding opportunities have changed, the purchase has been delayed.

The market is also given technical support by the consultants of the energy efficiency network for municipalities in the Oberland (we reported).

"People know their stuff there," assured Mann.

For a little over a year, the municipality has been working with eleven other municipalities in the Oberland and the district of Miesbach.

The aim of the network is to identify and implement potential savings in energy consumption.

Eichner added to the main committee that other projects are already pending for Holzkirchen: the Caritas daycare center is to be renovated and the fire station connected to the district heating network.

The building of the "Dorfspatzen" kindergarten in Föching will also be "completely looked at", Eichner cited as another example.

The energy-saving projects were positively received by the committee.

Josef Sappl senior (CSU) warned that storage should be installed for PV systems.

"If the sun shines on Sunday, you'll have electricity on Monday, even if it rains." But mayor Schmid advised caution with expensive battery storage systems.

Experts are skeptical, he said.

Mann added that storage is particularly worthwhile when electricity is needed in the evening.

In the Batusa Hall, for example, which is also used in the evenings, storage will be checked;

in schools and kindergartens it makes less sense, stressed Mann.

Albert Kraml (CSU) suggested contact with the city of Wunsiedel.

In cooperation with the Siemens company, the Upper Franconians rely entirely on renewable energies and intelligent energy control.

Without dissenting votes, the main committee commissioned the administration to implement the energy-saving measures presented.
