Flood waters surrounded thousands of families in the US state of Florida yesterday with the arrival of Hurricane (Ian), which left extensive damage and destroyed buildings, and inundated many streets before completing its way this morning towards the state of South Carolina.
The hurricane is likely to hit South Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane within the next few hours, with winds reaching 85 miles per hour after regaining strength as a massive hurricane over the Atlantic Ocean, the Associated Press quoted the US National Hurricane Center as saying. .
Ian wreaked havoc in Florida one day after arriving as a devastating Category 4 storm, inundating homes along the state's coast, cutting roads, destroying a historic pier on the waterfront, and causing 2.76 million homes and businesses to lose power.
And US President Joe Biden approved a (disaster declaration) in Florida to provide assistance at the federal level to areas affected by Hurricane (Ian).
About 1,300 federal workers have been deployed in Florida to help remove the effects of the hurricane, while hundreds of ambulances are operating in the affected areas, and about 4 million liters of water and food are being provided to the affected residents.
