A tweet by Hubert Aiwanger caused a sensation: Bavaria's Vice Prime Minister apparently wrote a hymn of praise for himself - but then had a different explanation ready.
Munich – Bavaria's Economics Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) took a lot of mockery on Twitter on Friday for supposed self-praise.
Underneath a tweet critical of Aiwanger was a reply with the highest praise – from none other than Hubert Aiwanger himself.
Written by Hubert Aiwanger, it read: “Mr. Aiwanger, we need more politicians like you, with common sense and pragmatism.
With an ear to the citizen.
and not like many other unworldly in cloud cuckoo land!
You are a fighter and have established your post as a bayr.
Economy Minister worked hard against resistance".
Aiwanger with a second account on Twitter?
Free voter boss justifies himself
Malicious ridicule from many Twitter users followed.
The assumption quickly circulated that Aiwanger had a second account on Twitter and had accidentally logged in incorrectly.
The Free Voters boss felt compelled to react quickly: He explained that he had "only forwarded what others commented on".
In fact, the hymn of praise for him was written by a user named "Peter Müller".
As evidence, Aiwanger added an actually slightly older original tweet, "so that everyone who wants to get it gets it now." He defiantly wrote: "Many of those who want to accuse me of a second account probably have one themselves.
I dont have any."

Aiwanger mockery on Twitter continues: "The man who was Peter Müller"
He was not entirely convincing: "Hubert Aiwanger – The man who was Peter Müller," wrote a user maliciously.
The party chairman of the Greens in Bavaria, Thomas von Sarnowski, ironically demanded: “People in Bavaria have a right to know the relationship between Hubert Aiwanger and Peter Müller.
He should explain himself to that.”
The case also made waves in the entertainment industry: on the Twitter account of the ProSieben show "Late Night Berlin" appeared a delightfully formulated praise for moderator Klaas Heufer-Umlauf - in the style of the Aiwanger tweet.
"Mr. Heufer-Umlauf, we need more moderators like you, with wit and good looks.
With an ear to the viewer.
and not like many other unworldly in the division! ", it said.
"But only one Aiwanger gag per day, yes?", warned one user.
Hubert Aiwanger also caused a stir when he hesitated for a long time to be vaccinated against the corona virus - but in the end he managed to do it.
Previously, he had gotten confused when trying to explain the Corona distance rules in the beer garden, causing more confusion than enlightenment.
