Kochel - At the Kochelsee, three places contaminated with heating oil were found during investigations.

Experts are now examining.

The oil barriers remain.

On Saturday (September 24th) an oil film had spread on Lake Kochel.

Police, municipality, fire brigade and district office as well as the water management office in Weilheim were on site.

It was about 600 liters of leaked heating oil, which initially got into the ground.

It is still being determined how the oil entered the lake.

It is known that, for technical reasons, the heating oil seeped into the oil tank of the Kristall-Therme Trimini when it was being filled up.

According to the Tölz district office, the area of the water surface covered with oil covered a total of around 1000 square meters.

Special oil binding agents were used.

"As a result, the oil could be removed and disposed of," said district spokeswoman Marlis Peischer.

The oil barriers laid out by the fire brigade prevented the oil from spreading in the lake.

Up to ten days for results

The cause and consequences of the pollution are being further investigated.

Three spots contaminated with heating oil were found during small pile probing, the district office announced. The investigations are ongoing.

The district authority expects the first results of the experts in about ten days.

Whether and to what extent the animal and plant world is affected will continue to be observed, according to district spokeswoman Peischer - so far neither diseased fish nor birds have been found.

As long as the oil barriers are still on the lake, the district office asks water sports enthusiasts to keep a large distance from the damage site.
