Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed his country's readiness to resume the supply of foodstuffs and fertilizers to Western countries.
The Belarusian BELTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying today: Belarus not only guarantees its food security, but can also be a donor and exporter, and is ready to resume cooperation in this vital sector, especially the export of mineral fertilizers, which form the basis of food products.
Lukashenko noted that Western governments are funding arms deliveries while they cannot buy enough food to provide for millions of people, including the elderly and low-income children.
European countries are facing an economic crisis caused in part by supply chain disruptions and Western sanctions against Russia.
