In Kirchheim, construction is going on everywhere: for the state horticultural show and for Kirchheim 2030. In order for all of this to be financially viable, the municipality has to establish new businesses.

At the request of the municipal councils, business promoter Tobias Schock presented a very positive report on the status of commercial development, especially in the difficult Corona year 2021.

Kirchheim

- It was the last lecture by the business developer Tobias Schock on the subject, at the end of September he is leaving the community for Passau.

"In 2021 we managed to get numerous new companies to settle in Kirchheim," said the business developer.

In this way, the buildings on Sonnenallee, which had been vacant for years, have been almost completely repopulated with high-quality companies.

“techSat, NetApp, Delfingen, Ecostor, Feger & Schmitt and the administration of the Farben Huber Group are very interesting tenants.

We were also able to acquire highly innovative companies in Ammerthalstrasse,” continued Tobias Schock.

All in all, companies from the fields of biotechnology, drive technology or sustainable energy have settled in Kirchheim, as well as service providers important for the company mix,

innovative start-ups as well as proven, trade tax-paying companies.

“This is reflected in the number of employees.

Here we have well over 8,000. This is a high, after five years ago it was only around 7,500 and the number was also declining in 2019.”

Trade tax developed splendidly during this period

The development of trade tax was just as positive: After a low of 8.2 million euros in 2017 and a maximum of 15.2 million euros in 2019, after two weak years, the figure was again over 15 million euros.

"As gratifying as the current situation is, it must be said clearly: We are hitting a glass lid.

For reasons of space, we can neither settle new companies nor create more jobs on the existing commercial areas.” That is why, according to Schock, the two planned commercial areas Campus Kirchheim and Campus Heimstetten are so important for the further development of the municipality.

"We have developed a great concept on the Kirchheim campus, not on a green field, but in the middle of town on an existing commercial area, a combination of business and living as well as environmental protection," said Schock.

These are exactly the areas that the community needs to attract service providers, high-tech companies, laboratories or assembly companies.

The resettlement will change the still unattractive visual appearance of the commercial areas.

The municipality is in demand at numerous national congresses on the subject of innovative municipalities.

What about the smaller farms?

"The values are great, but these are all just big companies, what happened in the town centers directly for the citizens?" asked Michaela Harlander (SPD).

Economic promoter Schock had to admit certain difficulties here.

"We try to keep the town centers running and are constantly in close contact with the REZ, where there are some new businesses."

On the departure of the VR Bank

And even more questions: Marcel Proffert (VFW) wanted to know what was happening in Kirchheim in the former post office, which had been empty for months.

“We can only become active here when the very dilapidated house, which urgently needs to be renovated, belongs to the community.

It's our turn," said Tobias Schock.

Petra Mayr (CSU) criticized the departure of the VR-Bank in Kirchheim: "This is an enormous frequency generator, something like this absolutely has to go back there." The business developer agreed: "We also made it clear to the bank that we step not good.

But the rent there is extremely high and we have no direct influence over the bank.”
