Even the Wall Street Journal was worth an online report on Friday that natural gas was to be searched for near Kinsau.

This is only the name of the drilling site - the search is actually in Reichling.

Reichling/Kinsau

– Natural gas could soon be searched for in Kinsau – this message from Bavaria’s Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger ran across the agency ticker on Friday: “In view of the exploding gas prices, we want to use all options to defuse the crisis.

That is why we also support the search for domestic natural gas.”

Drilling had already taken place in the 1970s and 1980s

But the drilling sites are actually south-east of Reichling - one in Mühlau, the other two near the Kromerhof (just before the roundabout in the direction of Apfeldorfhausen/Rott).

Gas had already been searched for in the region in the 1970s and 1980s, and at that time it was assumed that there would be a deposit somewhere around Kinsau.

For this reason, the drilling sites were called "Kinsau I" and "Kinsau II" at the time - and are still called that.

Kinsau's Mayor Marco Dollinger's phone rang accordingly hot, but he referred all inquiries to Reichling.

The matter was not public until yesterday, emphasized Reichling's Mayor Johannes Leis, which is why there has not yet been any information from the community about the matter.

The Genexco company, whose headquarters are in Berlin, applied for a license in mid-May.

This license was granted to the company as of October 1st.

Drinking water hazard was investigated

The community had previously had an investigation carried out to determine whether the drinking water supply could be endangered in any way.

Because the Bachrunzel - the source of the drinking water supply for the district of Reichling - is not far from the drilling sites.

However, the investigation showed that the drinking water supply was not at risk, said Leis.

There is "saturated rock" here, so according to the investigations there is no danger.

"Our concern was that the water supply is safe," explained Leis.

Otherwise, he sees no major dangers from the drilling.

And the municipality would only be involved anyway, but would have no "right of veto" against the drilling.

oil-gas mixture

The occurrence in Lechrain is said to be a gas-oil mixture.

The oil would then be filtered out after extraction and taken away with transporters, while the gas, which is said to be four meters deep, would be fed into the natural gas network in Swabia.

In addition, a pipeline would have to be built from the connection point at the Hirschvogel company in Denklingen to Reichling.

"They assume 300 to 500 million cubic meters of gas deposits," said Leis.

According to him, funding could start from 2025 – if it comes to that.

Because the license only applies to exploratory drilling, funding would then have to be applied for again.
