Good overview: The ideas office "Herzstück Marktplatz" in the rooms of the Bürgerstiftung invites you to a request concert on the market square (left), which is to be redesigned, with a walk-in aerial photo.

Many citizens are looking forward to the visit (from left) Isabella Britze (Building Authority Town Hall), Mayor Christoph Schmid and Korbinian Kroiß (Office nonconform).

An elegant roofing, plus a lowering with an easily playable surface.

Do the trees have to stay?

And aren't the parking spaces dispensable?

The town hall has called an ideas workshop for the planned reinvention of the market square.

The first results are now available.

Holzkirchen

– There have already been a number of attempts to make the Holzkirchen market square livelier, at regular intervals since the 1970s.

But the market community always shied away from a big hit.

The question of a parking space was usually a stumbling block, and the “parlor” of Holzkirchen is still not car-free to this day.

But now the municipal council is determined to get down to business.

The "Herzstück Marktplatz" project has a clear timetable: the conversion is scheduled to start in 2025.

Upstream is a citizen participation ("idea workshop"), which is taking place these days.

The town hall spared no expense (53,000 euros, subsidized from the state special fund “Invigorate inner cities”) and hired the office “nonconform”.

As Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) explained yesterday at a press event, there was an internal exchange with residents and market buffs on Wednesday evening.

Final presentation on December 15th

Today, Friday (September 30), the entire population can get involved: An “ideas office” has been set up on the premises of the community foundation (9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.) with a large aerial photo on the floor, with pin boards for design requests and with Contact persons of the "nonconform" office.

This Friday evening (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) there will also be “marketplace ideas put to the test” in the Oberbräu ballroom.

The wishes of the people of Holzkirchner will be presented and summarized at a final presentation on December 15th in the Oberbräu ballroom.

Suggestions are welcome online via the homepage www.herzstueck-marktplatz.de.

The mayor emphasizes that it is less a question of whether concrete blocks or Solnhofer slabs are more suitable for the new market square.

"Above all, we want to know how the citizens would like to use the marketplace, which functions they would like to have on it." One of the most urgent wishes, which is also evident in this public participation: no more cars.

There are still 17 parking spaces.

The process is open, says the mayor, but signals his personal opinion: "There is little to be said for getting parking spaces." The decisive factor will be whether the municipal council allows "auto zones" in the tender for the planning competition.

The street in front of the town hall is also part of the "car zone".

Does she have to stay?

Schmid refers to the alarm times of the fire brigade, which may not be met if the road is closed.

"There will be technical constraints for the tender," emphasizes Isabella Britze from the land use planning in the town hall.

It will be even more difficult to implement the desire to downgrade the state road between the Marktplatz traffic light and Oskar-von-Miller-Platz to a one-way street.

The Rosenheim road construction office currently sees no chance of realization, the mayor indicated.

"You have to see what is feasible."

What will become of the war memorial?

The spatial envelope that is to be planned over is not completely fixed.

"We are currently assuming that it affects the area that is managed under the address 'Marktplatz'," said Schmid.

This includes the Raiffeisenbank, Alte Post and "Hut & Tracht" areas, Oberbräu and the Hochgehweg buildings.

The green area in front of the Employment Agency could also be included.

The community probably does not want to shake the war memorial.

"The people in charge signaled to us that it was in the right place," said Schmid.

In order to be able to use the market place better, suggestions were made to straighten the gradient (1.30 meters) and to lower the square with an intercepting element towards the street.

"It looks nice, but it would not be easy to implement technically," says Britze.

Some even want an airy roof like the Olympic Stadium.

"When it comes to the tender, we won't be able to take everyone's wishes into account," admitted the mayor.

But there are no bans on thinking now.

According to the schedule, the architectural competition will be completed in one year (autumn 2023) and a winning design will be determined.
