“There had been nothing since 1989, the date of the interconnection with the RER B. But in anticipation of the Olympic Games, of the ceremony which should take place on the Seine, there will be a large influx of travelers.
We have therefore launched these heavy renovation works,” explains Pierre Labarthe, director at Gares et Connexions of the branch in charge of the development of SNCF stations.
Because in Saint-Michel (Paris 5th / 6th), 30 million people tread the quays on average: "It's more than Lille, Strasbourg or the Gare d'Austerlitz", he continues.
But dark and a little dilapidated, the station deserved a facelift.
