These are the results of the last two surveys published by the Ministry of National Education as part of the Cycle of disciplinary assessments carried out on samples (Cedre).

The responses of 7,886 pupils from 264 establishments were taken into account in the survey on

"language proficiency at the end of primary school"

, when the survey on

"language skills and literacy at the end of secondary school"

concerned 8,000 students from 302 establishments.

In 2015, approximately 60% of CM2 pupils had a satisfactory command of the skills required at the end of elementary school in French.

In 2021, this percentage rose to 62.5%.

"This increase in the overall level is all the more notable as it comes one year after the closure of schools in March-April 2020 due to the health crisis"

, underlines the Department of Evaluation, Foresight and performance (Depp) of the ministry.
