Western countries, including Israel, stood by Zelensky and announced that they would not recognize the Russian annexation. "Israel supports its sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the Foreign Ministry said. This, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of the four districts that his country occupied in eastern Ukraine: Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson.
The European Union strongly condemned the Russian annexation and stated that it will never recognize the referendums.
