Nevada authorities captured the Latino inmate sentenced to life in prison Wednesday night who escaped from a Nevada state prison last weekend, authorities said Thursday.

Porfirio Duarte-Herrera, a 42-year-old Nicaraguan man who killed a hot dog vendor in 2007, was located thanks to a tip-off received by police as he was getting on a bus to leave Las Vegas.

The agents took the man away and confirmed that it was the escaped prisoner, who was detained.

The South Desert Jail in Indian Springs did not discover that Duarte-Herrera had escaped until an inmate count conducted Tuesday at 7 a.m., authorities said.
