Russia will officially announce today (Friday) the annexation of the four districts it conquered in eastern Ukraine, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson.
In a solemn ceremony to be held in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin will speak, after which he is expected to meet the governors of the occupied regions.
At the same time, President Biden announced tonight that the United States will "never" recognize the Russian annexation and made it clear that the West will impose additional sanctions on Russia.
"Russia's attack is a blatant violation of the UN Charter and the basic principles of sovereignty," Biden said. On Wednesday, the White House clarified that the planned sanctions will be imposed on individuals and entities in the country as well as those who support its activities.

This week, Russia finished holding the referendums in the occupied territories.
According to reports in the country, 99% of the residents "voted" in favor of joining the Russian Federation.
Armed soldiers supervised the vote in these territories, where many people who supported Ukraine fled Russian control.
Residents described the vote as "forced", and Western countries, including Israel, announced that they would not recognize the annexation.
The United States Embassy in Russia issued a warning on Wednesday that all American citizens currently living or traveling in Russia should leave immediately, if possible.
This is in addition to a travel warning for anyone planning to travel to Russia.
"Commercial flights are extremely limited right now and are often not available at short notice. The roads are still open. If you want to leave Russia, you should do so independently and as quickly as possible. The embassy does not have much capacity to assist its citizens, and conditions can change at a moment's notice," the statement said. On the embassy website.
