At least 83 people were killed by the security forces in Iran during about two weeks of public protest following the death of the young woman Mehsa Amini, who was arrested by the Iranian morality police - a human rights organization in the country reported yesterday (Friday).

The "Human Rights in Iran" organization, which is located in Norway, published yesterday on its Twitter account that "at least 83 people, including children were killed in demonstrations in Iran".

Also, the Committee to Protect Journalists announced that it has learned that the security forces in Iran have so far killed more than 28 journalists.

Other human rights organizations also reported the arrest of journalists, activists, students and artists.

State TV in Iran said that the police arrested a large number of "rioters", but did not give an exact number or other details.

Despite the growing death toll and the intense repression by the authorities, videos posted on social media show many protesters in Tehran, Qom, Rasht, Sanandaj, Masjid-e-Saliman and other cities.

The demonstrators are protesting against the strict dress code for women, but are also calling for the downfall of the establishment in the country.

At the same time, a violent demonstration took place in Norway yesterday outside the Iranian embassy in Oslo, during which two demonstrators tried to break into the embassy building.

The country's public service reported that Norwegian police arrested 95 people at the demonstration.

Earlier this week, Germany's foreign minister announced that she is asking the European Union to impose sanctions on Iran following the death of the young woman Amini.

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said that the expansion and agitation of the hijab protests in the country is "the last step of hostile Western powers against Iran since its Islamic revolution in 1979."

Raisi went on to say on state television in the country that "the enemies have made miscalculations against Islamic Iran for 43 years, imagining that Iran is a weak country that can be controlled."

The young woman Mahsa Amini, whose death sparked the riots in Iran, was arrested by the moral police in Iran about three weeks ago, for wearing a hijab "sloppy".

She collapsed at the police station, went upstairs and died three days later in the hospital.

Authorities claimed she had a heart attack, but according to her family, there were no medical problems.

Also, Amini's father claimed that she suffered from injuries while she was in custody, and said that he considers the police responsible for her death.
